Albums
Toto's discography consists of 13 studio albums and four live albums. There are also compilations. In addition to releasing original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists as well as on soundtracks for films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards for their work.
Before Toto was formed, members of the band did session work for other musicians. David Paich, the son of session drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all performed on Boz Scaggs’ 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 in the wake of the collaboration.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album, was criticized by critics for the absence of hit singles. In 1985 the group's singer Fergie Frederiksen left the group, and the band held auditions to find a new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the band recorded the 1986 album Fahrenheit.
In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by scouring through old demos and tapes to release a special record called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans, and Toto embarked on the tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
Shem Von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as drummer during the tour in support of the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In the year 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included recordings from the tour and also an interview with the group.
